Dr. Michael Beyer, banker and graduate in business administration, has been strengthening the team of FAS AG since August 2018 and, as Director, will be responsible for the development and expansion of the new Board Advisory Services division, in which all essential issues of supervisory, administrative and advisory boards are handled in a bundled manner.In this context, his focus is on the professional coaching of supervisory boards, the implementation of efficiency audits, the optimization of board setups with regard to composition, information flows, further developments, etc., as well as the support of supervisory boards in top management projects (e.g. M&A projects, tenders, etc.).

is the first company in Germany to specialise in combining supervisory board training with certification of graduates by a state-recognised university and the establishment of a network for the active placement of supervisory board members – all from a single source. We see ourselves as a responsible intermediary between – private or public – companies that want to fill their supervisory boards competently (and since 1 January 2016 increasingly with women) and suitable individuals who have qualified as prospective or newly appointed members of the supervisory board for the responsible exercise of supervisory board mandates.
Voluntary work on the Supervisory Board corresponds to the basic idea of the cooperative organisation. With the Act to Strengthen Financial Market and Insurance Supervision, it also acquires a banking supervisory dimension. The law requires a duty of disclosure to the banking supervisory authority when new supervisory board members are appointed. In connection with this notification, the banking supervisory authority must verify whether the appointed board members are reliable and possess the necessary expertise to perform the supervisory activities. This is intended to ensure the quality of the supervisory bodies by means of legal requirements.
The BWGV Academy offers seminars on basic qualification and special topics for supervisory boards of cooperative banks, but the individual cooperative bank also has the possibility to hold an event for its own supervisory boards only, which is exactly tailored to the conditions and requirements of its company.
